Minjae was born into a harsh world under military occupation. His parents were always idealists about it though, and encouraged Minjae to always look on the bright side of things and think about how the world could be better.

He took this to heart, always trying to help other people and be friendly when he could. His ideals were kind of uncommon where he was from, and even though he made a lot of friends, a lot of people also mocked him for being idealistic, and he eventually learned to defend himself from people who tried to bother him. Although he always advocated for peace, sometimes things just got out of hand.

Things started to change for him when he met Hyunjin, though— an aloof young man that he met when he came through town with a band of witches. Most of the people in town didn't really like them, but Minjae just had to be friendly. They stayed for about three months, and Minjae actually grew to like Hyunjin, somewhat, even though he was aloof and sort of strange. They had even managed to develop some sort of mutual affection for eachother, when they suddenly left.

This didn't necessarily destroy Minjae— but it left him with new feelings to obsess over and wonder about. He grew a little more distant from his family and friends in town, until one day Hyunjin showed up back in town. And this time, when he asked if he wanted to come along with them, the "yes" couldn't leave his mouth fast enough.
